About the Park

The Salantai Regional Park has been established to protect the old valley landscape of the Erla, Salantas and Minija Rivers, as well as other natural and cultural heritage values r
• The steep-sloped, flat-bottomed fluvioglacial old valley landscape of the Erla, Salantas and Minija Rivers, the distinctive Šaukliai, Kulaliai, Igariai and Erlėnai boulder fields, the drumlins in the northeastern part of the park, the great loops in the mid section of the Minija River, the meandering lower reaches of the Salantas River and its erosional valley in the midsection;
• Cultural heritage values including castle mounds, the urban structure of Salantai town, Šilalė archeological complex, and others;
The stability of the natural ecosystem, its biotic components, characteristic flora and fauna and natural fish migration routes and spawning grounds.
